Cardiff will host the 2029 UEFA Women’s Champions League final at the National Stadium of Wales, the Football Association of Wales has announced.

The bid had support from the Welsh Government, Cardiff Council and the stadium. FAW confirmed the selection on 15 September 2026.

A nationwide programme is planned to begin before the final and continue beyond 2029. It includes four full-size artificial pitches with protected access for women and girls, plus 15 facility development projects designed for female players.

FAW also aims to increase girls’ access to school football and reduce the number of teenage girls leaving the game by 25%, particularly between ages 12 and 16. These are targets, rather than completed improvements.

A trophy tour and activities for schools, communities and grassroots clubs are planned across Wales.

Cardiff previously hosted the women’s final in 2017, when Lyon beat Paris Saint-Germain at Cardiff City Stadium. The National Stadium of Wales staged the men’s final between Real Madrid and Juventus days later.

FAW says ticketing information and details of supporter activities will follow.
