Denbighshire soft plastics trial: check your household’s instructions

A 12-week soft plastics trial starts in Denbighshire on 14 September 2026, with the final collection on 4 December. Only invited households are included, not everyone in the selected areas.

The selected areas include homes in Denbigh, Prestatyn, Rhyl, Rhuddlan, Corwen, Llangollen and Efenechtyd. Check your household leaflet before putting anything out.

Two collection methods

Follow your assigned method: either a used plastic bag, no bigger than a bag for life and never black, or the supplied blue sacks. Remove food and liquids, place items loose inside, then tie a double knot when full.

On your usual collection day, put the bag or sack in the top Trolibocs box beside paper and secure the blue lid. If the top box is full, tie the bag or sack to the frame. Without Trolibocs, secure it between other recycling containers.

Bread bags, crisp packets, cling film and sweet-sharing pouches are accepted. Microwavable rice and pet-food pouches, batteries and vapes are excluded. Rigid bottles, pots, tubs and trays stay in the middle box.

For soft plastics, households not invited should continue using supermarket recycling points according to their rules, or the normal rubbish bin if they cannot use a drop-off point. Permanent collections have not been confirmed.
