Dewi Lake named Gloucester captain with Jac Morgan as deputy
Dewi Lake has been named Gloucester Rugby captain for the 2026/27 season, with fellow Wales international Jac Morgan and England centre Seb Atkinson appointed as vice-captains.

The 27-year-old hooker takes the role after joining Gloucester this year. He has won 34 Wales caps and has led his country 22 times, most recently during the summer Nations Series.
A Welsh core in the leadership group
Lake and Morgan give Gloucester two established Wales captains in Gloucester’s three-man leadership group. Lake has captained Wales in almost two-thirds of his international appearances, based on the figures published by the club.
Lake said: "I'm extremely honoured to be named captain of Gloucester Rugby." He said the appointment carried extra significance because of the club's history and supporters.
How Gloucester made the choice
Head coach George Skivington said Gloucester involved the entire playing group in the selection process before combining that feedback with the club's own assessment.
Gloucester's announcement puts Lake at the centre of the club's leadership before the new Prem season, with Morgan and Atkinson forming the deputy group around him.
