Lloyds opens John Street office for more than 2,500 staff

Lloyds Banking Group has opened its John Street office in Cardiff as a workplace for more than 2,500 colleagues. The opening was announced on 28 September. The figure describes the staff the office will bring together. The announcement does not say that 2,500 new jobs have been created.

A new workplace in the city centre

Lloyds says the building uses electric air-source heat pumps and solar panels and has achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating. Its estimated annual carbon saving of around 422 tonnes is a design projection, not a measured first-year result. The office includes flexible work areas, meeting rooms and a roof terrace. A Changing Places toilet near the entrance is available to members of the public as well as staff.

Part of a wider office programme

The Cardiff opening forms part of Lloyds’ programme of fewer, better-equipped offices across the UK. The group says that programme has also included workplaces in Leeds, London and Halifax.
