£250,000 for designs to expand community sport at Rodney Parade
Plans to expand community and disability sport at Rodney Parade will be developed with a £250,000 Welsh Government grant secured by Newport City Council.
The Dragons want to redevelop the underused area known as the cabbage patch, improving training facilities alongside provision for the wider community.
Announced on 10 September, the Transforming Towns funding covers feasibility studies, site investigations, technical surveys, architectural design and planning work. It will help inform later investment decisions; it is not an announcement of construction funding or planning approval.
The council will monitor progress against agreed objectives while working with the club. The announcement does not give an opening date or a final design.
