Techniquest is running Ghoul School and The Slime Lab daily from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November. Families planning a half-term visit need to budget for admission as well as any activity extras. Ghoul School is a 30-minute science show aimed at ages five and over. It is free on a first-come basis once visitors have a valid admission ticket, or a place can be reserved for £1 per person, subject to availability.

Show and workshop times

Ghoul School performances are listed at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. The centre warns of a loud bang at the end and says ear defenders are available. The Slime Lab lasts 45 minutes, with sessions at 11.10am, 1.10pm and 3.10pm. It costs £5 for each child’s kit, in addition to admission. Children must be at least five and accompanied by a paying adult. One adult may accompany up to three children.

The admission bill

Standard admission is £15.45 for adults aged 16 and over and £13.63 for children aged three to 15. Under-threes enter free. The standard family ticket is £52.72 for up to five people, with a maximum of two adults or concessions. The booking page also displays higher prices with a voluntary donation. Those are £17 for an adult, £15 for a child and £58 for a family. Capacity is limited. Check the centre’s booking and access information before choosing a date; a show or workshop ticket does not replace general admission.
