22:44 Holyhead train confirmed after three Wales home games

The direct service leaves Cardiff Central after the Norway, Denmark and Portugal matches. Fans travelling on 4 October will also share the city with the Cardiff Half Marathon.

Wales supporters heading to North Wales will have a dedicated 22:44 direct train from Cardiff Central to Holyhead after three forthcoming home matches, the Football Association of Wales has confirmed.

Denmark · 4 October: 22:44 Cardiff Central → Holyhead
Portugal · 17 November: 22:44 Cardiff Central → Holyhead

The service is scheduled after Wales face Norway on Thursday 1 October, Denmark on Sunday 4 October and Portugal on Tuesday 17 November. All three departures form part of a new partnership with Transport for Wales.

Extra time needed on 4 October

The Denmark match falls on the same day as the Cardiff Half Marathon. The FAW advises supporters to plan ahead and allow more time for their journeys because the race takes place earlier that day.

Planning the journey

The late trains extend an arrangement trialled during the World Cup play-offs. TfW also plans to integrate its journey-planning and ticket-booking services into the FAW app.

The announcement does not set out fares, intermediate stops or arrival times. Check the specific journey through the Cymru Tickets app or TfW before booking; the confirmed 22:44 departure should not be read as a guarantee of a connection beyond Holyhead.
