Wales Netball orders review after World Cup qualification failure

One win from three was not enough

Wales opened with a 50-49 defeat by Northern Ireland on Friday, then beat the Republic of Ireland 76-33 on Saturday. The final seven-goal loss left the Feathers with one victory from three matches. Scotland won all three fixtures. Northern Ireland won twice, securing the other qualifying place. Wales Netball confirmed that both nations will join England at next year’s tournament.

Coach and captain acknowledge the disappointment

Interim head coach Reinga Bloxham said the team had failed to meet the standards and ambitions set for the tournament, while praising the players’ commitment. Captain Bethan Partridge said the group took responsibility for not getting the results required and thanked supporters in Scotland and at home. The narrow opening loss and the final defeat proved decisive despite the substantial win over Ireland. A large winning margin in one fixture could not replace the additional victory Wales needed across the competition.
