Welsh households waiting to hear about the £150 Warm Home Discount should expect letters between late October 2026 and early January 2027, according to the current GOV.UK guidance. The support normally reduces an eligible household’s electricity bill. It is not a £150 cash payment into a bank account.

Who may qualify?

Eligibility in England and Wales depends on circumstances on 23 August 2026. Your electricity supplier must take part in the scheme, you or your partner must receive a qualifying means-tested benefit, and your name or your partner’s must be on the electricity bill. The current guidance lists Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, and Pension Credit. Meeting one condition alone does not establish entitlement.

What should the letter say?

One type confirms that no further action is needed and that the electricity supplier will apply the discount by 31 March 2027. Another asks for more information: recipients must call the helpline by 26 February 2027 to confirm the required details. GOV.UK says to contact the scheme if a letter has not arrived by early January. The official England-and-Wales guidance is linked below, so readers can check the current instructions.

Prepayment meters and park homes

Prepayment and pay-as-you-go customers can still qualify. The supplier explains how support will be delivered, which may involve a top-up voucher. Park-home residents use a separate application route linked from GOV.UK. The discount does not affect Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment. Scottish application arrangements differ, so the Wales instructions are the relevant starting point here.
