Health tops Welsh priorities in YouGov political snapshot

Health and the economy lead the concerns of Welsh adults in YouGov’s October political snapshot, which also records more disapproval than approval of the Welsh and UK governments. Health was selected by 48% of respondents and the economy by 44%. Immigration and asylum followed at 33%, with housing on 24% and education on 20%. Respondents could choose up to three issues, so the figures do not add up to 100%.

Government approval and personal ratings
Asked about the Welsh Government’s record to date, 22% approved and 50% disapproved. For the UK Government, the figures were 18% and 60%. The personal favourability questions give a different picture. Rhun ap Iorwerth was viewed favourably by 33% and unfavourably by 32%, with 35% answering that they did not know. Andy Burnham’s figures were 49% favourable and 35% unfavourable. Nigel Farage was viewed unfavourably by 66%, compared with 23% favourable. The remaining 11% answered that they did not know. These are opinions of named politicians, not measures of intended votes for their parties.
When and how the survey was conducted
YouGov published the snapshot on 15 October. The online survey covered 1,039 people aged 16 and over living in Wales, with fieldwork from 28 September to 5 October 2026. YouGov says the figures are weighted to represent Welsh adults aged 16 and over. The results therefore describe opinion during that fieldwork period. They do not measure reactions to events after 5 October, and the near-even favourable and unfavourable ratings for ap Iorwerth should not be read as a decisive balance of opinion. The linked tables contain the questions and full-sample results. No small subgroup findings or seat projections are used here.
