New Cambrian Coast trains bring a change at Machynlleth

New Class 197e trains begin entering service between Pwllheli and Machynlleth on Monday 19 October, Transport for Wales says. Coast services will temporarily start and finish at Machynlleth until late 2026. Passengers continuing towards Shrewsbury and Birmingham will need to change there.
Check connections before travelling
TfW says the new and existing trains cannot attach to each other, so the fleet is being introduced gradually. A mixture of trains will remain during the changeover. The operator advises checking its app or journey planner for connections and platforms. It says extra staff will help at Machynlleth, where lifts provide access between platforms. These arrangements do not guarantee a particular connection or that a lift will be available on every journey. Passenger Assist can be booked on 03330 050 501. Travellers concerned about heavy luggage should speak to the conductor before reaching Machynlleth.
