Sheedy sees Bowden’s attacking imprint as Cardiff prepare for Zebre

Callum Sheedy says new head coach Dan Bowden is encouraging Cardiff to move the point of contact and find space in broken play as they prepare for their first home match of the season.

The attacking change

The fly-half pointed to a counter-attack late in the first half against the Scarlets as an early sign of the approach. Bowden’s emphasis, he said, is on keeping the ball alive and recognising where space opens.

Cardiff took four league points from the away derby, but Sheedy said opportunities to score had been missed. He credited the replacements with helping the team finish the job after rain arrived in the final half-hour.

Building on the play-offs

After last season’s play-off appearance, Sheedy said Cardiff should welcome higher expectations. He also wants to retain the connection with the Arms Park crowd that he felt helped the side through close home games.
