Glamorgan Women announce three professional contracts for 2027

Glamorgan Women have announced professional contracts for Bethan Ellis, Abbey Freeborn and Bethan Gammon as the club prepares for its first season in Tier 1, the top level of women’s county cricket, in 2027. The three deals were announced on Friday 11 September, following captain Lauren Parfitt’s contract earlier in the week. For Ellis and Freeborn, the agreements turn two seasons on loan from Warwickshire into permanent moves. Ellis is an all-rounder; Freeborn is a wicketkeeper-batter who scored back-to-back Metro Bank One-Day Cup hundreds in August.

Gammon follows Parfitt

Gammon made her Glamorgan debut in April 2025 after playing for Western Storm and The Blaze. The club described her as its second professional women’s signing, after Parfitt. Gammon said: “It’s a huge honour to be signing my first professional contract with Glamorgan.” Her role at the club already extends beyond playing. Aimee Rees, Glamorgan’s head of women and girls cricket, said Gammon had spent the past 18 months leading the County Age Group and Emerging Player programmes. Parfitt’s deal, announced on 9 September, was Glamorgan’s first professional women’s contract. A PE teacher and head of year at Bassaleg Comprehensive School, she has been granted a sabbatical year to pursue professional cricket. She was named captain of Glamorgan’s first women’s side in 2025.
