The offer starts with a four-week taster, followed by an 18-week structured course for those who want to continue. Sessions cost £5 each, or pay what you can. People paying for the full 18-week course are charged for 16 sessions.
Where it runs and how to enquire
The health board lists weekly sessions at the Widdershin Centre in Pontypool from 10.30am to 12.30pm and the Riverfront Theatre in Newport from 2pm to 4pm. To check current places, eligibility and accessibility, email d2h@artiscommunity.org.uk or call YMa | Artis on 01443 490390.
YMa | Artis and Ballet Cymru are delivering the programme with the health board’s Arts in Health Team. The announcement also describes community and inpatient taster sessions and an online pilot due during September. Availability for that pilot should be checked with the organisers.
Clinical support still matters
The health board’s clinical lead, Dr Inderpal Singh, says people at higher risk of falls, or who have had a fragility fracture, should also seek a formal falls-risk assessment and appropriate clinical support. The programme is intended to complement care; the announcement does not establish an individual participant’s suitability.
