Jamie Reed has been appointed senior coach of South Melbourne, returning to the Australian club where he played in its 2014 championship-winning team. The club confirmed the appointment on Wednesday 21 October. South Melbourne says Reed holds a UEFA A Licence and brings coaching experience across youth and senior football in the United Kingdom. Football director Peter Kokotis said the club wants attacking football alongside the development of younger players.

The Holywell connection

Reed joined Holywell Town ahead of the 2026/27 Cymru Premier season. The FAW’s summer announcement said he had reversed his retirement decision after a campaign with Bangor 1876. South Melbourne’s announcement does not state a contract length or provide details of Reed’s arrangements with Holywell.
