£35,000 grants open for community arts projects in Cymraeg

Creative practitioners in Wales can apply for up to £35,000 to develop community projects that expand the use of Cymraeg through the arts. The Arts Council of Wales opened the latest Llais y Lle round in an announcement dated 14 October. Applications close at 1pm on Wednesday 13 January 2027, with projects running from April 2027 to June 2028.
Who the fund is for
The programme is for creative individuals living in Wales, including groups with one person taking responsibility for the application. Projects must be developed with a community and an arts, cultural or language organisation. Applicants do not have to be fluent Welsh speakers. The guidance says proposals must still show how creative communication in Cymraeg will be enabled; projects delivered mainly in English will not be funded.
The budget and commitments
The grant can cover up to 90% of eligible project costs. At least 10% must be confirmed and evidenced as in-kind community support, rather than being treated as an automatic cash contribution. Personal access costs sit outside the £35,000 maximum. Applicants must budget for at least two people to attend each of five sharing days. The council’s guidance says proposals should begin on 26 April 2027 and asks applicants to commit to collaboration throughout delivery.
Briefings before the deadline
Online briefing sessions are listed for 19 October at 4pm, 4 November at 10am and 12 November at 6pm. The funding page links to the Teams sessions and the application portal. The council wants communities to help shape projects, rather than simply receive a series of activities. Applicants should read the full criteria and required partnership documents before applying.
