Newport energy grants offer up to £25,000

The council says more than £700,000 in grants has supported 30 organisations across Newport over the past two years.
Community groups can receive up to 67% of eligible costs, compared with 50% for businesses; both grants are capped at £25,000.
On an agreed £10,000 project, the council gives grant examples of £6,700 for a community group and £5,000 for a business.
Newport businesses and community organisations can seek grants of up to £25,000 for projects to cut energy use, but they must be able to pay the full bill before claiming the money back.
Applications are open for 2026/27. Newport City Council announced additional UK Local Growth Fund support on 9 September. Businesses can receive up to 50% of eligible costs, while community groups can receive up to 67%, with the same £25,000 ceiling for both. These are maximum awards, not guaranteed payments.
For an agreed £10,000 project, the council gives examples of a £5,000 business grant or £6,700 for a community group. Applicants pay upfront and then submit supporting evidence to claim the agreed grant. Only costs backed by a clear evidence trail can be paid.
Small and medium-sized businesses, legally constituted voluntary or community organisations, and registered charities are eligible. The organisation and its buildings must operate within Newport City Council’s boundary. Households, individuals, private landlords, public sector organisations and primary and secondary agriculture businesses are excluded.
