People, workplaces and community organisations in Rhondda Cynon Taf are being invited to join a new alliance that asks men and boys to help prevent domestic abuse. The council published its invitation on 13 October. The Men Against Domestic Abuse Alliance was launched at its domestic abuse conference on 30 September, so the announcement is an invitation to take part in an existing initiative.

What joining involves

Members will be asked to support the alliance’s principles and consider practical actions in their workplace or community. The council lists appointing a champion, encouraging awareness training for staff and volunteers, promoting support services, and holding conversations with men and boys about respect and equality. The alliance also aims to challenge harmful attitudes and behaviour, support healthy relationships and amplify the experiences of women and survivors. Those are its stated objectives, rather than measured results from the programme.

How to express an interest

Individuals and organisations can contact MenAgainstDomesticAbuse@rctcbc.gov.uk to express an interest in becoming part of the alliance. The council’s announcement does not specify a membership closing date, fee or schedule of training sessions. That email is given for joining the alliance. People who need help with domestic abuse, or are concerned about someone else, are directed to the council’s domestic-abuse support page, linked below. The two routes serve different purposes.

2 checked facts

  1. How does it compare?

    • The membership email and victim support page are separate routes.

  2. Who can change it?

    • A September30launch is different from an October13invitation; the notice does not measure prevention outcomes.
