Free bat-box workshops at Rhondda Heritage Park this half-term

Families can book free bat-box-making sessions at Rhondda Heritage Park Welsh Mining Museum on Tuesday, 27 October. The half-term activity is part of the Welsh Museums Festival and combines making a box with crafts and information about local wildlife. Sessions start at 10am, 12.15pm and 2.15pm. Each is advertised with 30 child places. That is the session capacity, not a claim that 30 tickets remain available.
Booking and age guidance
Booking is essential. The venue’s ticket page lists both child and adult tickets as free, and families can choose their session through the official booking page linked below. The council recommends the activity for children aged five and above. The ticket page says over five and notes that younger children need adult assistance. Families booking for a five-year-old or a younger child should check suitability with the venue. The museum is at Lewis Merthyr Colliery, Coedcae Road, Trehafod, CF37 2NP.
Separate from the Halloween attraction
These free workshops are not the museum’s separately advertised Halloween Spooktacular. Booking a bat-box session should not be treated as a ticket for that attraction. The activities focus on bats and their habitats, including former mines. The council says a sighting of a real bat is not guaranteed. Check the booking page for current availability before making travel plans.

Where this sits
Three sessions with 30 child spaces each give an advertised capacity of 90 child places; capacity is not remaining availability.
Free bat-box sessions are a different event from Halloween Spooktacular and are not a ticket to that attraction.
