A consultation on the North Wales Pilgrim's Way, the 136-mile walking route from Basingwerk Abbey near Holywell to Bardsey Island, opened on Friday 6 November. Businesses, accommodation providers and church congregations in Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy are being asked to take part, according to the Church in Wales.

What it will ask

The route is often called the "Welsh Camino". The consultation will explore how businesses and local communities can benefit from better supporting pilgrims with accommodation, transport and access to food and water along the way. People will also be asked how local heritage, culture and language can be promoted through developing the route.

Ambassadors and funding

There will be opportunities to become Pilgrim's Way Ambassadors for the route. The consultation is part of a two-year project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, to explore the potential for growth in the number of people walking the long-distance route.
