£7m fund offers grants for home-energy manufacturing in south-west Wales

Businesses have until 9 November to apply. An online briefing on 8 October will explain the scheme, which offers grants normally ranging from £100,000 to £1 million.

Manufacturers of home-energy technology can apply to a £7 million fund intended to build a supply chain in south-west Wales. The deadline is 9 November 2026, with grants normally ranging from £100,000 to £1 million.

Who is the fund for?

The scheme covers the Swansea Bay City Region: Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. It is led by Neath Port Talbot Council through the Homes as Power Stations project, part of the Swansea Bay City Deal.

The council is inviting proposals from start-ups investing in the technologies, small businesses expanding capacity and larger companies diversifying their products. It also welcomes businesses establishing operations in the region.

Heat pumps, solar panels, domestic batteries, power walls, intelligent energy systems and infrared heating are among the technologies listed. This is a call to develop the businesses supplying those technologies, rather than an application for a household installation grant.

How to find out more

An online question-and-answer session takes place on Microsoft Teams at 9:30am on 8 October. Businesses can register through the council’s Supply Chain Fund page, which also links to the application guidance and expression-of-interest form.

The fund page says applications outside the normal grant range can be discussed individually. Applicants need to check the full funding criteria and project requirements with the council; the headline grant range does not establish what share of any particular project will be covered.

All funding must be allocated and spent by December 2027, according to the council’s announcement on 28 September. Businesses can contact haps@npt.gov.uk with questions before applying.
