Travel details expected in January
Powys council says route timings and road-closure details are expected by early January 2027. The new route announcement therefore does not settle when a particular road will close, how residents will reach properties or where spectators should park. Check the organiser and host councils for those practical arrangements before making travel plans that depend on access to the course.
2027 named Year of Cycling
Visit Wales will mark 2027 as the Year of Cycling, with a campaign, a mapping tool and work with businesses and communities. The Welsh Government also pointed to the £4.5 million Croeso i Feicwyr Fund announced earlier this year for cycling facilities and routes. That funding is background to the event preparations, rather than a new £4.5 million award announced with the sprint location. Wales is due to host the Tour de France for the first time in July 2027.

Where this sits
The sprint location and eight-climb count are new route detail, distinct from the previously announced Welsh start and finish.
Route presentation is separate from the road-closure and timing plans still expected in January.
