Lewis Ingram, Mason Phillips and Finlay Walker could make their senior Wales debuts against Scotland after being named in Paul Berry’s 19-man rugby league squad. The Celtic Cup match is at Biggar RFC on Saturday 24 October, with kick-off at 2pm. Selection in the squad does not confirm a place in the matchday side or a first cap.

Three players step up from Wales A

All three potential debutants have been involved in the Wales A programme this autumn. Ingram developed with Bridgend Blue Bulls, Phillips played junior rugby with Aber Valley Wolves, and Walker came through Cardiff Blue Dragons and Aber Valley Wolves. Wales Rugby League says Walker captained Wales A from hooker in last Saturday’s 68–16 win over the Sir Billy Boston Memorial XIII at The Wern. Ingram scored a try and Phillips scored twice. Their involvement in that game is background to the call-ups, rather than confirmation of a role against Scotland.

Celtic Cup position

Mike Butt is also included after not being involved in the senior side’s 44–12 win over the USA last weekend. Scotland lost 46–12 to Ireland in their opening Celtic Cup match. Wales Rugby League says a win on Saturday would set up a deciding meeting with Ireland in Merthyr Tydfil on 31 October. That outcome remains conditional on the Scotland result. The governing body links to a live stream for Saturday’s match; no stream price or access entitlement is confirmed here.
