A Met Office yellow warning of wind covers nine Welsh counties from 6pm on Monday until 3am on Tuesday: Bridgend, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire and Swansea. The Met Office expects gusts of 45 to 50mph inland and 60 to 65mph along exposed coasts and over high ground, with heavy rain at times. The south to south-westerly winds will pick up from the west through the evening and ease from the west in the early hours. It rates the warning as a high likelihood with a moderate impact.

What to expect
The Met Office says spray and large waves are likely on coastal roads, sea fronts and in coastal communities. Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry journeys are likely, high-sided vehicles are likely to be held up on exposed routes and bridges, and some loss of power is possible. It is a shorter warning than the one that covered six north Wales counties during Storm Boelo, when the Met Office station at Capel Curig recorded an 83mph gust early on Sunday. Tuesday's separate wind warning covers Scotland and Northern Ireland, not Wales, and no warnings are listed for the rest of the week.
On the railway today
Trains are running again in both directions between Bridgend and Cardiff Central after flooding in the Llanharan area closed the line on Monday morning, Transport for Wales said. Delays and cancellations are still expected until 3pm. A separate flooding incident has closed the line between Caerphilly and Ystrad Mynach, with services cancelled in both directions between Cardiff Central and Ystrad Mynach. Network Rail told TfW of damage to the railway, and Amey Infrastructure closed the line. TfW expects the incident to last until 2.30pm, with disruption until 4.30pm. Road transport is running between Cardiff Queen Street and Ystrad Mynach, and local buses between Cardiff and Caerphilly can be used at no extra cost. Passengers delayed by 15 minutes or more can claim Delay Repay, and unused tickets can be refunded without a fee where they were bought.
High tides on the coast
Natural Resources Wales had seven flood alerts in force at 9.07am on Monday, all on the coast, and no flood warnings. All four River Ely warnings from the weekend have been lifted, among 21 warnings and alerts removed in the past 24 hours. Two alerts were issued on Monday morning. On the north Wales coast from Llanddulas to the east coast of Anglesey, NRW says high tides and the weather bring a risk of flooding between 9.45pm and 11.45pm tonight. On the west coast of Anglesey, from Cemlyn Bay to the Menai Straits, the risk runs from 9.45pm until 4.15am on Tuesday. The alert from the Menai Straits to Borth runs until Tuesday evening. Alerts also cover the Llyn and Cardigan Bay, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Swansea Bay and Gower coasts.
Before you set out
Check the Met Office warnings and tfw.wales before travelling this evening. Keep clear of sea fronts and coastal paths around high tide, where NRW warns of waves and spray, and keep dogs on a lead near cliffs. In an emergency on the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Floodline is on 0345 988 1188, and power cuts can be reported on 105.
Correction, 26 October 2026: an earlier version said the Conwy Valley line was closed for Monday. That closure notice related to Sunday, and no Monday closure has been confirmed.
