Wrexham wins its category at Britain in Bloom with a Gold award

Wrexham has won Gold and been named winner of the Small City and City category at the RHS Britain in Bloom Finals 2026, Wrexham Council said on 28 October. The results were announced at a ceremony in Rochdale on 20 October. The council said it follows Wrexham's Gold in the City category at Wales in Bloom.
What the judges saw
Judges visited in August. They toured Ty Mawr Country Park, Pen-y-cae Orchard, Pentrebychan Nursery and Erlas Walled Garden, then the city centre's floral displays. The council said they heard about the role of volunteers and trainees, and about projects including the WRECSAM bug hotel, rainwater harvesting, and recycling and composting.
Volunteers recognised
Two volunteers from Wrexham Litter Pickers received an RHS Community Champion Discretionary Award, which the council said recognises their contribution to keeping communities clean and welcoming.
Reaction
Peter Barton-Price, chairman of Wales in Bloom, called it "a truly outstanding achievement" that reflects a "collaborative approach" by officers, elected members and volunteers. Councillor Nigel Williams, lead member for economy, business and tourism, said it was "a fantastic achievement for Wrexham and something we can all be incredibly proud of".
