People considering becoming a councillor in Wrexham can meet council leaders and ask about the role at two Guildhall drop-in events. The council has announced sessions on Thursday 26 November 2026 and Thursday 28 January 2027. Both run from 5pm to 7pm, and booking is not required.

What happens at the sessions

Each evening starts with a question-and-answer panel from 5pm to 5.30pm involving the chief executive, Mayor and political group leaders. The council asks for questions about the practicalities of the role in advance. Afterwards, visitors can speak to councillors, officers and Youth Parliament representatives. Information will cover combining council work with employment or caring, training, allowances and the nomination process.

Attending or asking a question

Children, family and friends are welcome. People can register their interest through the link in the council announcement, but there is no obligation to do so or to stand for election. For questions about the events, or to discuss access requirements, contact legaldem@wrexham.gov.uk. These are information sessions, rather than a nomination deadline or confirmation that any attendee qualifies as a candidate.
