Bangor–Holyhead trains halted after obstruction at Valley

TfW is seeking replacement transport, with disruption expected until 6pm on 23 September. Tickets are being accepted on specified buses and Avanti services.

Trains cannot run between Bangor and Holyhead because of an obstruction near Valley railway station, Transport for Wales says. On Wednesday 23 September, the operator expected the incident to last until 4pm and disruption until 6pm.

Where trains stop

Cardiff Central–Holyhead services are terminating and starting at Llandudno Junction. Manchester Airport–Holyhead services are terminating at Bangor. TfW is sourcing road transport for stations between Bangor and Holyhead; passengers should not assume replacement buses are already available.

Tickets accepted on other routes

Until 6pm, affected tickets can be used at no extra cost on Arriva bus routes 4 and 4A between Holyhead and Bangor, and 5 and 5D between Bangor and Llandudno Junction. Avanti is accepting tickets between Bangor and Crewe.

Passengers who decide not to travel can obtain a fee-free refund for an unused ticket from the retailer. Check TfW’s live service page before setting out, as the expected reopening time may change.
