Police appeal for mother to get help after newborn found dead in Bangor

North Wales Police are appealing for information after a newborn baby was found dead on the coast near Gorad Road in Bangor on Sunday 27 September. The force says its immediate concern is the health of the mother, who may need urgent support. Officers are asking her, the father and anyone who may have relevant information to come forward.

What police have confirmed

A member of the public contacted police at 4.51pm on Sunday. The force says it is working with partner organisations to establish the circumstances. The coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. The appeal does not establish a cause of death. No conclusion about how the baby died should be drawn from the discovery.
