North Wales Police is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a motorcyclist died following a collision on Marine Drive, Llandudno, on Thursday 29 October. In an update issued at 15.49 on Friday, the force said it is also trying to locate a black vehicle, possibly a Ford Fiesta, believed to have been in the area of the Great Orme at the time.

What police say happened

Officers received a report at 10.31pm of a collision involving a black motorcycle on Marine Drive, about a mile from the Toll House towards the Great Orme summit. The male rider entered the sea below the Great Orme. North Wales Police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI responded. The man was recovered from the water and airlifted by Coastguard helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, where he was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified.

The vehicle police want to trace

The force says the black vehicle travelled along Mostyn Street into North Parade and then up towards the Great Orme at about 10.26pm. It is urging the driver to come forward as soon as possible. Police have not said the vehicle was involved in the collision.

How to help

Sergeant Alun Jones of the Roads Crime Unit said police are especially keen to hear from anyone who travelled from the Toll House towards the summit between 10pm and 10.30pm and may have dashcam footage. Anyone who was on or near Marine Drive that evening is asked to get in touch. Contact the force by webchat on the North Wales Police website or on 101, quoting reference 26000888717.
