Cardigan’s Black Lion reopens with refurbished bar, restaurant and rooms

Non-residents can eat at the High Street hotel. Meal times differ from the daily bar hours, and stairs are needed to reach the restaurant.

The Black Lion Hotel in Cardigan has reopened after refurbishment, with non-residents welcome to eat at the High Street venue. Visit Wales reported the reopening on 4 September and said all 15 bedrooms, along with the public, bar and restaurant spaces, had been upgraded.

The hotel is operated by Flatrock Group, whose owners Wells and Louise Jones are local to Cardigan, according to the business’s website.

When food is served

The bar is listed as open daily from 9am to 10pm. Morning food runs Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 11.45am. Lunch is served Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 2.30pm, with dinner on those days from 6pm to 8.30pm. These are the operator’s published hours, checked on 12 September.

The Summer 2026 breakfast and lunch menu currently linked by the hotel lists a Full Welsh breakfast at £11, a vegan breakfast at £9.50 and a Welsh beef burger with fries at £17. The dining page offers online table booking.

Access and parking

The operator says there is no lift: stairs are required for the bedrooms and restaurant, and some bedrooms and bar areas also have internal steps. Visitors with access requirements can contact the hotel on 01239 612532 before booking.

A separate pay-and-display car park on Chancery Lane, behind the hotel, takes cash and has limited spaces available first come, first served. It is not hotel parking.
