Work on the second phase of the Brecon Town Centre Improvement Scheme is due to begin on 9 November, Powys County Council has said. The council has appointed Powys-based construction firm EvaBuild to carry it out.

Where the work will be

Phase two covers the area from the eastern end of St Mary's Church to the Lloyds Bank area, including High Street Inferior. The scheme is funded by Welsh Government, and the programme is scheduled to finish by the end of March 2027.

Christmas trading

The council says businesses and stakeholders are being contacted ahead of the works, and that particular consideration is being given to maintaining access and minimising the impact over the Christmas trading period. Final plans for this phase will soon be displayed at Y Gaer.

Cllr Jackie Charlton, Powys's Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys, said the works may cause disruption and thanked people for their patience. Seer Construction Ltd delivered phase one.
