Cardiff City Women come from behind to beat Swansea 3-1 in the South Wales derby

Taite Trivett's 35-yard strike put Swansea ahead, but an own goal, a Haile Richards penalty and a late Shannon Evans header won it for Cardiff in the Genero Adran Premier.

Cardiff City Women beat Swansea City Women 3-1 in the Genero Adran Premier on Sunday, coming from a goal down to win the South Wales derby, Swansea City's official report said. Swansea led through Taite Trivett's 35-yard strike in the 19th minute, but Cardiff levelled just before half-time and won it with a second-half penalty and a late header. Swansea went into the game fourth in the table on 15 points from five matches, after an 8-1 defeat at Wrexham, a 3-0 loss to Briton Ferry Llansawel and a 2-0 win at Cardiff Met. Cardiff had won 6-0 at Briton Ferry Llansawel the week before, Cardiff City's match centre said.

Trivett's long-range opener

Swansea goalkeeper Amelia Forkings had to keep out early efforts from Kate Oakley and Ffion Price before Swansea took the lead. Aimee Deacon won the ball from Maddison Perrott in midfield and it broke to Trivett, whose shot from 35 yards went into the top corner. Chloe Chivers had a one-on-one with Grace Olsen soon after but dragged her effort just wide.

Own goal, penalty and header

Cardiff drew level just before the break. Oakley delivered a ball into the box and Swansea captain Jess Williams' attempted clearance went past Forkings into her own net. About 20 minutes from time, substitute Haile Richards was brought down in the box by Eilish Mitchell and Richards scored the penalty herself. In the closing stages Cardiff captain Shannon Evans rose highest to head in Price's corner. Williams' late 30-yard free-kick went over the bar.

Stokes makes her debut

Summer signing Annabel Stokes made her first competitive appearance for Swansea as a late substitute, after an injury-disrupted start since she joined. Manager Yzzy Taylor now has another attacking option, the club said.
