Carmarthenshire walking and cycling map: comments close on 26 October

Carmarthenshire residents have until 5pm on 26 October to comment on the county’s walking, wheeling and cycling network map, including connections they think are missing.

The council says a route must appear on its Active Travel Network Map before it can be considered for funding to create or improve it. Inclusion is not a funding award or a promise that a route will be built.

The map brings together existing routes, proposed improvements and future connections the council wants to develop over the next 15 years. Residents can comment on routes and suggest additions through the online map linked from the council’s consultation page.

Where to ask questions

Three library drop-in sessions will each run from 2pm to 6pm: Llanelli Library on 21 September, Carmarthen Library on 22 September and Ammanford Library on 24 September.

Comments can also be emailed to activetravel@carmarthenshire.gov.uk. Paper consultation copies can be requested from council Hwbs in Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli, giving residents an alternative to the online map.

The consultation opened on 3 August; the council’s reminder and library-session notice is dated 8 September. It says suggestions and comments will be included where applicable in its submission to Welsh Government on 1 December. That is the submission date, not a construction deadline.
