The 9.45pm Fishguard Harbour to Carmarthen train is cancelled on Wednesday 21 October. Transport for Wales has listed a replacement bus from Fishguard Harbour at 9.45pm, calling at all stops to Carmarthen at no extra cost. The operator says train crew have been delayed by disruption at Carmarthen. It expects disruption until 10.30pm and warns that road transport takes longer than rail.

Other affected journeys

TfW’s notice also lists the 3.30pm Manchester Piccadilly to Fishguard Harbour service as terminating at Carmarthen, and the 5.45pm Carmarthen to Milford Haven train as terminating at Haverfordwest. The 8.37pm Milford Haven to Cardiff Central train was listed to start at Haverfordwest. Passengers should check the current TfW notice before travelling. Bus arrangements are limited to the affected services, and calling points are shown on station posters and TfW’s station pages. The announced bus time is not a guarantee of seats or an unchanged departure time.

2 checked facts

  1. How does it compare?

    • Cancellation of the 21:45 rail service is distinct from the operator’s replacement bus at the same advertised time, which takes longer.

    • Short-terminating trains at Carmarthen and Haverfordwest do not mean the whole south-west Wales railway is closed.
