Passengers using Machynlleth face delays of up to 60 minutes and possible cancellations because of slippery rails, Transport for Wales says. Its Wednesday evening notice expects the incident to last until 9pm, with disruption continuing until the end of the day. TfW has arranged replacement buses between Machynlleth and Pwllheli to help affected passengers complete their journeys at no extra cost. The operator says it is seeking further road transport and warns that bus journeys will take longer than trains.

Check the journey before travelling

The announced bus arrangements apply only to the affected service. Passengers should check TfW’s live service updates before setting out and allow extra time. Bus calling points are listed on station information posters and TfW’s station pages. The 9pm estimate is not a guarantee that every train will return to its timetable then.
