Update, 23 October

This is the forecast report published on 22 October. Use the current rail report linked above for confirmed closures and replacement transport. It includes the Heart of Wales line and the replacement-bus departures now listed by TfW.

Transport for Wales is warning of cancellations and delays across the Carmarthen, Fishguard Harbour, Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock area on Friday 23 October because of forecast severe weather. The operator’s notice says disruption is expected from 8am until the end of the day, with delays of up to 60 minutes. The warning is for Friday, rather than Thursday 22 October.

Replacement buses may not be available

TfW says poor local road conditions could mean it cannot provide road transport when trains are cancelled. No guaranteed replacement-bus timetable is given in the notice. Passengers should check their individual journey and local weather forecast before setting out. The notice covers an area of the network; it does not confirm that every train on each named route will be cancelled.

Refunds and delay compensation

If you decide not to travel because of the disruption and your ticket is unused, TfW says you can obtain a fee-free refund from the retailer that sold it. Passengers who do travel and reach their destination more than 15 minutes late can claim through Delay Repay, according to the operator. Check the current service-status notice and journey planner before travelling, as the forecast arrangements may change.
