Football Museum of Wales opens in Wrexham on Friday
The Football Museum of Wales and the rebuilt Wrexham Museum will open to the public at 10am on Friday 25 September. Entry is free, but visitors need to book a timed ticket in advance.

The museum divides its galleries between the history of football in Wales and the story of Wrexham. The football displays range from grassroots clubs to the national teams, while the Wrexham galleries cover the area's mining history and the communities that shaped the city.
How to book
Free timeslots are available through the Wrexham Museum website. The council says capacity is limited and advises visitors who want a particular day or time to book early.
A museum of two halves
The national football collection and Wrexham's local history collection share the expanded Grade II listed County Buildings. The redevelopment has created new interactive displays, visitor areas and a café overlooking the forecourt.
Wrexham Council says local communities helped curate the object displays. Visitor assistants and volunteers will be available when the doors open. Details of opening-weekend events, family workshops and later activities are expected on the museum website.
Who funded the redevelopment
The project was supported by the Welsh Government, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Transforming Towns, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the Wolfson Foundation, the V&A Purchase Grant Fund and Wrexham Council. The council announcement did not give a single final project cost.
