Construction has started on council homes on Cilycwm Road in Llandovery, with Carmarthenshire County Council expecting them to become available in late summer or autumn 2027. The council announced the start on 1 October. It says the homes will be for rent and allocated under a local lettings policy, and urges residents interested in the development to make sure they are on the housing register.
What has been confirmed
The scheme is part of the council’s programme to increase its housing stock. The announcement describes modern, energy-efficient homes for individuals and families, but does not state the number of homes, the bedroom mix, rent levels or the project cost. Late summer or autumn 2027 is the council’s expected availability window, not a confirmed move-in date. Starting construction does not mean applications for individual homes are open now.
How to join the housing register
The council’s housing service asks people who want to join the register to call 01554 899389. Staff ask questions about eligibility before providing login details for Canfod Cartref, its home-search service. Available properties are advertised from Friday to Monday, with bidding closing at midnight on Monday. In this system, a bid expresses interest in an eligible home; it does not involve paying money. Those are the council’s general application arrangements. The Llandovery announcement does not say when these particular homes will be advertised, and joining the register does not guarantee an offer. Use the official housing page below for the current process.
