A third person has been arrested in the investigation into a firearms incident on the A48 Clase Road, Swansea, at about 4.15pm on Friday 6 November, South Wales Police said on Saturday. A 29-year-old man from Swansea was arrested on Saturday morning on suspicion of affray and possessing an offensive weapon, and remains in custody.

Two earlier arrests

A 41-year-old man from Llansamlet was arrested within hours of the incident being reported, on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. A 16-year-old boy from Llansamlet was arrested on suspicion of affray. Both remain in police custody while enquiries continue. Nobody has been charged, according to the force's update.

No injuries linked, no wider threat known

The force says the injuries of a person who presented himself appear unrelated to the incident, and that it is not aware of any injuries in connection with it. Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones said detectives believe the individuals involved are likely to be known to one another, that such incidents are rare, and that police are not currently aware of any wider threat to the public. A visible policing presence will stay in the area.
