Matt Dibley-Dias joined Newport County on loan from Fulham on 26 August, the eleventh player Newport County have signed this summer. It is a rebuild by volume, and it has left the squad settled enough that manager Mullins has told the BBC he plans no outgoings before the window shuts at 11pm.

The number that explains what Newport County still want is at the back. Newport County have conceded seven goals in three League Two games, the 23rd fewest of the 24 clubs in the division, while scoring eight, which is among the better returns in the league. Newport County sit 11th on four points.

Mullins has said a wide player is the gap left, which would let Shaquille Gwengwe move central. Newport County are at Salford tonight, so any deadline business will be done away from Rodney Parade.
