Glamorgan Women bowler Nicole Reid will retire from cricket after Sunday’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup final, ending a playing career that began more than 20 years ago.

Reid started with Gwent Girls in 2005 and made her first appearance for Wales Under-13s two years later. She went on to captain Wales at Under-15 and Under-17 level before playing senior cricket for Wales Women.

Two seasons with Glamorgan

Reid joined Glamorgan Women two seasons ago. Her first campaign included a place in the side that reached the 2025 One-Day Cup final and Vitality Blast Finals Day.

She was then part of Glamorgan’s Vitality Blast-winning campaign in 2026. Sunday’s final gives the leg-spinner one last chance to finish with another trophy.

‘Something I am so proud of’

Reid said cricket had given her incredible memories, lifelong friendships and the privilege of representing Glamorgan. She thanked her family, the club and the coaches who supported her while she also worked full time.

She said playing for Glamorgan was something she was proud of and would never forget. After retiring, Reid plans to support the team as Glamorgan Women move into Tier 1 cricket.

Glamorgan thanked Reid for her commitment to the club and Welsh cricket. The announcement does not give career appearance or wicket totals.
