Owen Watkin and Sam Parry will co-captain Ospreys in the first United Rugby Championship match at the redeveloped St Helen’s ground on Saturday 24 October. The derby against Dragons kicks off at 7pm in Swansea. Ospreys say the game is sold out, with the return following a phased programme of events and Swansea RFC fixtures at the ground.

The side for the homecoming
Parry starts at hooker between Gareth Thomas and Tom Botha, with Rhys Davies and Ryan Smith in the second row. Watkin partners Keiran Williams in midfield. Reuben Morgan-Williams and Dan Edwards are the half-backs, while Tom Rogers starts at full-back with Keelan Giles and Iestyn Hopkins on the wings. The confirmed Ospreys XV and eight replacements are listed in the team sheet.
A different home, and a different income model
Managing director Richard Lancaster says the move will allow Ospreys to retain income from food and drink, hospitality and non-matchday activity alongside ticket sales and sponsorship. He describes that change as transformative for the club’s balance sheet, rather than publishing a quantified financial forecast. In the club’s account of the preparations, Lancaster said 5,000 tickets had been sold for the Dragons match. He put Saturday’s capacity at around that level, with capacity expected to grow to about 7,000 once the first redevelopment phase is complete. The larger figure is a future plan, not the number available for this fixture. Lancaster also said season-ticket holder numbers had more than doubled, though the article does not provide the underlying totals. Ospreys spent last season at Bridgend’s Brewery Field after ending their two-decade stay at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Saturday’s practical details
The Ospreys team announcement and Dragons’ own next-match listing both give 7pm at St Helen’s. Supporters should use the clubs’ current matchday information for access arrangements rather than rely on an old fixture listing. Ospreys are due to host Cardiff Rugby at St Helen’s the following Saturday, 31 October, at 7.45pm. That separate fixture’s time should not be confused with the Dragons game.
Background and supporting figures
Where this sits
The club says Saturday’s approximately 5,000 capacity is below the planned approximately 7,000 at completion of phase one.
The club says food, beverage, hospitality and non-matchday income can join the earlier ticket-and-sponsorship model. The size of the benefit is not quantified.
