TfW cancelled Pwllheli to Machynlleth trains on Friday morning after a driver shortage, with buses to 09:30

A driver shortage stopped the morning trains from Pwllheli towards Machynlleth. TfW cancelled the 06:29 and put Lloyds coaches on until 09:30, at no extra cost.

Transport for Wales cancelled trains from Pwllheli towards Machynlleth after a shortage of train drivers. TfW expected the incident and the disruption to last from 06:29 until 09:30. It named the 06:29 from Pwllheli to Machynlleth as cancelled. Those times were TfW's estimate, not a promised clear.

What to do

TfW organised buses at no extra cost, provided by Lloyds Coaches: one from Pwllheli at about 06:29 calling all stops to Machynlleth, and one from Barmouth at about 07:49 calling all stops to Machynlleth, until 09:30. If one of TfW's trains is delayed or cancelled and you arrive at your destination more than 15 minutes later than scheduled, you can claim through Delay Repay, the industry compensation scheme. If you decide not to travel because of this disruption and the ticket is unused, TfW says you can get a fee-free refund from wherever you bought it.

Update, 12:50 on Friday 4 September: TfW's disruption window closed at 09:30 and the Pwllheli entry has come off its live service status page, checked at 12:50. TfW has published no all clear. This brief has been put into the past tense.
