Swansea City have signed Tom Iorpenda from Huddersfield Town on a three-year deal, and the midfielder will wear the number 16 shirt. Swansea City say Iorpenda is in contention to face Watford at the Swansea.com Stadium tonight, which would make him a deadline day signing who plays before the deadline.

Swansea City go into the game third in the Championship on seven points from three games. The side has conceded one goal all season, the fewest of the 24 clubs in the division, and scored five. A midfielder is not the obvious purchase for a team defending that well, which is what makes the timing worth noting: this is a squad addition made from strength rather than a hole filled at the last hour.
