Swansea City file final plans for undercover stadium fan zone
Swansea City have submitted a final planning application for an undercover fan zone behind the South Stand at the Swansea.com Stadium. The club says preliminary work on the site will begin in the coming days while the application is considered.

What the club is proposing
The proposed venue would open on matchdays and would also be used for events when Swansea City are not playing at home. The club says it has moved through the pre-application stage, responded to feedback and recommendations, and held what it described as positive discussions with Swansea Council before making the final submission.
December is an aim, not a guarantee
The application refers to an intention to open the fan zone in December. Swansea City have stopped short of promising that date, saying the timetable could change if more time is needed to make the venue fit for purpose. Planning permission has not yet been granted.
Memorial garden footprint could change
If the project is completed, the footprint of the stadium memorial garden would be altered, although the garden would remain in its present location. The club has invited supporters with concerns about that change to contact it directly.
Supporter consultation continues
The club says consultation with supporters has started and will continue as the plans develop. Its stated aim is to create a venue representing Swansea City and serving a wide range of supporters. The council must now determine the application before the full scheme can proceed.
