Wrexham have been linked with three players on deadline day and have signed none. Sky report a two million pound deal for Burnley defender Joe Worrall, with a medical completed yesterday. Sky also report Wrexham in talks for Harry Souttar, with Leicester City valuing the defender at around ten million pounds. The BBC report a Wrexham bid for Sheffield United midfielder Callum O Hare.
O Hare is the one with a voice attached. Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder told the BBC that Wrexham are blanket bombing the position, which is a manager describing a rival approach rather than a deal being close. O Hare remains a Sheffield United player.
What sits behind the interest is a defence that has lost people. Wrexham have lost three centre-backs this summer and signed none, and the side is 20th in the Championship on two points from three games, 18th of the 24 clubs for goals scored. Phil Parkinson takes Wrexham to Millwall on Wednesday night.
Cover files a move when a club or the league posts it. None of these three has been, so none is on the board as done, whatever the evening brings. The window shuts at 11pm.
