Wrexham libraries are inviting children aged 5 to 12 to design a mascot for the system that organises their books. Entries open on Thursday 1 October and close on 31 October. The winning character will be used in libraries across Wrexham. The competition marks 150 years of the Dewey Decimal Classification, which groups books by subject, as part of the city’s Year of Wonder celebrations.

How to enter

Children need to collect an official entry form from a local library, draw an original character by hand and return the completed form to the library. Each child can submit one entry. The back of the drawing must include the child’s name, age, contact details and library card number. Those details go to the library with the entry, not to Cover Wales. Winners are due to be announced in November. Families can ask their local library for details, call 01978 292090 or email library@wrexham.gov.uk.
