Forty Wales-based printmakers will be paired with 40 artists from North America for an international project connecting Wrexham’s Tŷ Pawb with the University of Pittsburgh. The Confluence International Print Exhibition, also named SGCI X Wales, is a collaboration with Southern Graphics Council International. Exhibitions are planned at Tŷ Pawb and the university’s Hillman Library in Pennsylvania between October 2027 and February 2028. Exact dates remain to be confirmed.

How the print exchange will work

Each participating artist will make four prints of their artwork. One is for the artist to keep, one can potentially be exchanged with another participant, and two will be used for the exhibitions on either side of the Atlantic. The arrangement means the project is more than a single touring display: it is designed to connect printmakers through the exchange of work and techniques. It does not mean every participant has already agreed a swap.

Artists nominated through Welsh studios and academics

Printmaker Hannah Fray is organising the project and acting as the UK liaison for SGCI. In the council’s announcement, she describes approaching academics and print studios across Wales to nominate participating artists. The release is an announcement of that collaboration, rather than an open application call. It does not provide the full artist list or invite readers to book exhibition tickets at this stage.

Two venues, with the programme still to be finalised

The Pittsburgh exhibition is linked to SGCI’s Confluence conference, which will include print events and exhibitions across the city. The Welsh exhibition will be held at Tŷ Pawb, the arts and community venue on Chester Street. The council’s account describes displays on both sides of the Atlantic, while SGCI’s executive director refers to the prints being shown first at Hillman Library. With exact dates unconfirmed, the opening sequence and any overlap should be checked when the venues publish their programmes. Visitors should wait for those details before making travel or booking plans.
