TfW warns of cancellations on the Cambrian line after a passenger is taken ill at Caersws

Check before you travel. The delay Transport for Wales is quoting has risen from 45 minutes to 70 since midday, and the one replacement bus covered the Aberystwyth end only.

A passenger has been taken ill at Caersws station, the village stop in mid Wales on the Cambrian line, and Transport for Wales is warning that trains between Aberystwyth and Birmingham New Street may be delayed by up to 70 minutes or cancelled in both directions. That wording covers the whole run between the two, not only the end points. TfW expects the line to be clear by 13:30, with knock-on delays until 14:30. Both estimates have been pushed back once: when this desk checked at 12:06, TfW was giving noon for the line, 13:00 for the delays and a maximum delay of 45 minutes. It has said nothing about the passenger's condition.

If you are travelling

TfW has laid on one bus, run by Lloyds coaches between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth at no extra cost. It does not serve Caersws, and both arrival times TfW gave for it, 12:10 and 12:40, have now passed with no later one published. Nothing has been announced for the rest of the route east of Caersws, and TfW has named no ticket acceptance on other operators for this incident. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, TfW says you can claim through Delay Repay.
