Aberystwyth to Birmingham trains: TfW's Caersws delay warning has gone, with no all clear

A passenger was taken ill at Caersws station in mid Wales on Thursday morning and Transport for Wales warned of delays of up to 70 minutes on the Cambrian line. That warning has since disappeared from its live page without TfW saying trains are running normally.

A passenger was taken ill at Caersws station, on the Cambrian line between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury, on Thursday morning. Transport for Wales warned of delays of up to 70 minutes, and possible cancellations, between Aberystwyth and Birmingham New Street, and put Lloyds coaches on between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth. That warning is no longer on the operator's live service status page. It was still up at 14:12 and had gone by 14:54.

What TfW has and hasn't said

TfW has published no separate all clear, and gave no time for when the warning came down. It has not said whether trains ran normally in the meantime, and the coaches between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth no longer appear on its page either. The disappearance of a warning is how TfW usually shows an incident has cleared, but on this one it has not said so.

What to do

Check your own train with TfW before you travel, because the operator has not confirmed the line is back to normal. If one of TfW's trains is delayed or cancelled and you arrive at your destination more than 15 minutes later than scheduled, you can claim through Delay Repay, the industry compensation scheme. If you decide not to travel and the ticket is unused, TfW says you can get a fee-free refund from wherever you bought it.
