Track defect cancels Cardiff Central to Penarth trains

Train services between Cardiff Central and Penarth are being cancelled in both directions after a track defect, Transport for Wales says. The operator expects disruption until noon on Thursday 15 October. Its notice also warns of delays of up to 15 minutes. Noon is an estimate, so passengers should check their individual train before travelling.
Bus alternatives
TfW says customers can use Cardiff Bus services 92, 93 and 94 between Cardiff and Penarth at no extra cost until noon. Routes and departures can be checked with Cardiff Bus or Traveline Cymru. Pay As You Go cannot be used on local bus operators. TfW advises those passengers to tap out at the earliest opportunity; check the operator’s current ticket advice before boarding a local bus.
Repairs and updates
TfW says trains cannot run through the affected area until the defect has been fixed. Network Rail is aware and technicians are travelling to the site, according to the notice. No completed repair or confirmed restart has been announced.
